How do I schedule service?

You can schedule service three easy ways:

How quickly can you respond to a service call?

We do our best to respond as quickly as possible, often within hours, especially for emergencies. Comfort Club members receive priority service and jump to the front of the line during busy seasons.

Do you charge a trip fee or service fee?

Yes. Our standard trip fee during regular business hours (M–F, 8am–5pm) is $129. After-hours and weekend calls are double that rate for non-members. Comfort Club members pay 50% off the trip fee ($64.50 flat, regardless of time or day).

Will I get a reminder before my appointment?

Yes. We send text and email notifications when your appointment is scheduled, when your technician is on the way, and when services are due. Many of our customers tell us it’s one of their favorite things about working with us!

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We offer free quotes on major repairs and new system installations. You can also get a quick Instant HVAC Quote or Instant Water Heater Quote right from our website.

How much does a new HVAC system cost?

The cost of a new furnace or air conditioner typically ranges from $5,000 to $14,000, which includes all equipment, labor, and fees. Heat pump systems can range higher depending on capacity and efficiency. Several factors affect the price, including system type, size, installation complexity, and your home’s existing ductwork.

Do I need to replace my furnace when installing a new AC or heat pump?

No, but if both units are older, you can save on labor by replacing them at the same time. Installing matched, energy-efficient equipment also typically increases overall system efficiency and savings.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer 0% financing options for up to 5 years on qualifying new HVAC systems. We’ve partnered with Synchrony, Travis Credit Union (including Go Green Home loans), and Optimus Capital to give you flexible options that fit your budget.

Are there rebates or tax credits available?

Yes! We’re proud partners of SMUD, PG&E Energy Upgrade CA, Build It Green, and TECH Clean California. We also help customers take advantage of federal and state rebates on qualifying energy-efficient equipment. Our team handles all the rebate paperwork for you, so you get the savings without the hassle.

Do you offer any discounts or specials?

Yes. We regularly run seasonal specials and discounts. Visit our Specials page to see current offers.

How often should I have my HVAC system serviced?

We recommend two tune-ups per year: one for your cooling system in the spring and one for your heating system in the fall. Regular maintenance helps prevent breakdowns, lowers energy bills, extends equipment life, and keeps your manufacturer’s warranty valid.

What’s included in a tune-up?

Our WOW tune-ups include a 21-point inspection covering everything from refrigerant levels and electrical connections to thermostat calibration, ductwork, condensate drains, blower motor performance, and more. See our maintenance page for the full checklist.

What is the Comfort Club?

The CABS Heating & Air Conditioning Comfort Club is our affordable membership plan starting at $19.95/month per address. Members receive 2 seasonal tune-ups, 50% off trip fees, up to 20% off repairs, 5% off new systems, priority service, no overtime charges, and more.

Do I have to be a Comfort Club member to get a tune-up?

No. Tune-ups are available to all customers. However, the Comfort Club is designed to make regular maintenance affordable and stress-free, and we’ll even reach out to you each season to schedule.

How long does a new system installation take?

Most residential HVAC installations are completed in 1 to 2 days. More complex projects, like full system replacements, ductwork modifications, or fuel conversions, may take longer. We’ll give you a clear timeline before work begins.

What permits are required for HVAC installation in California?

Local and state permits are required for virtually all HVAC installations in California. As a licensed contractor, we handle the entire permitting process for you, including scheduling city inspections.

What size HVAC system do I need?

We perform a proper load calculation (Manual J) based on your home’s square footage, insulation, windows, orientation, and other factors. Bigger isn’t always better. An oversized system can lead to short cycling, uneven temperatures, and higher energy bills.

What’s better: a heat pump or a furnace?

It depends on your home, your energy source, and your local climate. Both can provide consistent, efficient heating. Heat pumps offer the advantage of year-round heating and cooling in one system, and many qualify for significant rebates and tax credits. We’ll walk you through your options based on what’s best for your home.

Can you convert my home from gas to electric?

Yes. We specialize in helping homeowners transition from gas furnaces to energy-efficient electric heat pump systems, and we’ll help you take advantage of available SMUD, state, and federal rebates and incentives.

Do you offer warranties on your work?

Yes. We stand behind our work with a workmanship guarantee. New equipment also comes with the manufacturer’s warranty (terms vary by brand and model). As a Lennox Premier Dealer, we can offer enhanced warranty options with extended labor coverage.

What happens if something goes wrong after installation?

If any issue arises that’s covered under warranty, we take care of it. No finger-pointing, no runaround. We’re committed to earning your trust for life, not just for a single job.

Do tune-ups keep my warranty valid?

Yes. Most manufacturer warranties require annual professional maintenance to stay valid. Our tune-ups meet that requirement and protect your investment.

Why does indoor air quality matter?

According to the EPA, indoor air pollution is one of the top five environmental threats to health. Poor indoor air can trigger allergies, aggravate asthma, and contribute to long-term health concerns, especially in homes with pets, dust, or older ductwork.

What air quality services do you offer?

We offer air quality audits, duct cleaning, whole-house filtration, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, UV air purifiers, and ventilation solutions like whole-house fans.

How often should I change my air filter?

In most homes, every 1–3 months, depending on filter type, pets, and household size. You can also buy replacement filters directly from us.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, checks, and financing through our lending partners. Payment is generally collected once work is complete and you’re fully satisfied.

Will I receive an itemized invoice?

Yes. You’ll receive a detailed invoice outlining all parts, labor, and fees, with no hidden charges or surprises.

How do I cancel or change a Comfort Club membership?

Comfort Club plans are month-to-month with a 6-month minimum. After the initial 6 months, you can cancel anytime with 30 days’ written notice.
